Grindleford Gallop
Around 600 people travel from far and wide to the Peak District every year to take part in an increasingly popular event called the Grindleford Gallop. Participants can run, jog, walk or stroll along some, or all, of the 21 mile route. The course takes in the villages of Grindleford, Froggatt, Eyam, Great Longstone, Edensor and Baslow linking them together with paths, tracks and open moorland of the White Peak. Famous landmarks on the way round include the Riley Graves, Longstone moor, The Monsal trail and of course the stunning Chatsworth Park estate. The final high-level section along Baslow and Frogatt edges gives breath-taking offers of the surrounding Peak District. Money raised from the event is in aid of Grindleford Primary School and the event is organised by Grindleford Parents, Teachers and Friends Association (PTA). However, to carry off an event like this has required a contribution from almost everyone in the village and they have all risen to the challenge on an annual basis.
